Finding clarity in Christ amid the chaos of this world

The noise of today’s world is unbearable, encroaching all around us, like secular surround sound.

It blares in our face and comes at us from all directions, whispering lies that tell us that we’re not good enough if we don't have what everyone else has.

Is everything that shouts to us and vies for our attention a distraction from the truth? Things to get us off track and question reality? Sometimes so much so to where we are no longer able to discern up from down, right from wrong…

And then hopefully a breaking point will come and enable us to reorder our priorities, simplify our lives, and focus on what truly matters and get our lives back on track.

It's so hard to focus in a world that is overstimulating.

Advertisements, social media buzz, peer pressure – all these external distractions vying for our attention. It's so much noise.

We have to be able to filter out the frivolity and use discernment, making the call on what we allow to infiltrate our lives.

What are we letting influence us?

Garbage in, garbage out.

You play shoot-em up video games all the time and that's the only thing filling your head, then most likely it will lead to violence and unrest in the real world as you become desensitized to it.

What are we filling our minds with, what are we consuming?

Things that are pure and empowering? Or the nonsense ingested when mindlessly scrolling, looking to fill a void amid this endless pursuit of something satisfactory…

We make the choice on what we can allow to influence us.

With so many opinions in the world and pressures coming at us from all directions and every sphere of influence we choose to inhabit, we need to filter out the garbage and stay focused on our own path.

And how can we do that?

By knowing intimately what our values are and what guides us, and clinging to that. Refusing to allow anything to creep in that will derail us from our journey of life on this earth.

By taking time to reflect on what truly matters to us, we can begin to strip away the distractions and tune into what’s most important. It requires intentional effort, but the clarity it brings in the midst of chaos is well worth it.
